FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The LIU women's ice hockey team faced off with Sacred Heart University on Friday afternoon, and thanks to a goal in the second period, the Sharks claimed the 1-0 victory over the Pioneers.

• The lone goal for the game was netted midway through the second period by junior Abby Latorella. The even-strength goal was assisted by sophomores Maggie Culp and Journey Miller.
• Freshman goalkeeper Tindra Holm saved all 22 shots that the Pioneers sent her way throughout the matchup.
• Jeannie Wallner, a freshman forward, won 10 face-offs.
• The Sharks outshot the Pioneers 67-41 and 32-22 with shots on goal.
• Up next, the Sharks are on their own ice at the Northwell Health Ice Center as they again head off against SHU on Saturday, February 5 at 2 p.m.
