EAST MEADOW, N.Y. – The LIU men's ice hockey team celebrated Senior Day at Northwell Ice Center on Saturday afternoon against the University of Alaska Fairbanks and ended up falling, 4-3 to the visiting Nanooks.
 
SHARK BITES

• The Sharks opened the scoring midway through the first period when sophomore Preston Brodziak let one rip into the back of the net on assists from freshman John Gormley and senior PJ Marrocco. Alaska responded two minutes later to tie the game at 1-1.
• To cap off the scoring in the first, graduate student Zack Bross sent one in with assists to senior Derek Osik and graduate student Jake Stevens to put the Sharks up 2-1.
• LIU went up 3-1 midway through the second period when senior Max Balinson scored off a Bross assist. Alaska responded a minute later with a goal of their own and the period ended with the Sharks up 3-2.
• Alaska would score twice unanswered in the third period to gain the 4-3 lead and the win.
• Up next, the Sharks travel to take on UMass Lowell on Friday, February 25 at 7:05 p.m.
