BROOKLYN, N.Y.Ā ā The LIU women's basketball team returned home to the Steinberg Wellness Center for a Monday evening match up against Iona.
The Sharks battled hard against the Gaels in a tightly contested 64-55Ā loss. It was aĀ gameĀ centered around a remarkable second halfĀ surge by LIU.
The Sharks, whichĀ once trailed 36-13 at halftime, went on a 10-0 third quarter scoring run led byĀ Emaia O'Brien,Ā Ashley Austin and De'Asia Thomas.
LIU followed that up with a strong fourth quarter push, where they found themselves on a 12-0 scoring run, before eventually falling to Iona by nine, in a game which they once trailed by 25.
Emaia O'Brien scored a team-high 18 points, Mariah Elohim scored 9 points and De'Asia Thomas finished the night withĀ eight points.
The Sharks are back on the road for a Saturday afternoon match up against Buffalo.
