EAST MEADOW, N.Y. — The LIU men's ice hockey team took care of business on Sunday night to extend its winning streak to a season-high three games. The output was record-setting.
Isaiah Fox produced the second four-goal game in program history and
Riley Wallack added two goals as the Sharks routed Franklin Pierce, 9-2, at Northwell Health Ice Center to complete a two-game sweep.
The nine goals set the program's single-game record, surpassing an eight-goal outburst against Saint Anselm on Jan. 21 of last season.
Fox became the second player in program history with a four-goal game.
Billy Jerry, now playing in the ECHL, had all four LIU goals at Brown on Jan. 30 of last season, in a 4-3 victory.
"I couldn't have done it without my teammates," Fox said. "They were setting me up, and I was in the right spot."
Jordan Di Cicco,
Austin Brimmer and
Jack Quinn also scored for the Sharks (6-10-1).
Brandon Perrone handled the first two periods in goal for LIU, while
Jan Škorpík made his collegiate debut by handling the third period.
The Sharks now turn their attention to a rematch with Northeastern, this time on Long Island.
LIU fell to the then-No. 9 Huskies, 3-2 in overtime, in the season opener back on Oct. 1 in Boston.
The teams meet again next Sunday at 7:15 p.m. at Northwell Health Ice Center.
"Last year was a tough loss versus Northeastern. We lost 6-0," Fox said. "This year we were right there. We're looking to put them away this time."
