RIVERSIDE, Calif. — The LIU women's basketball team competed its two-game California road trip with a 49-47 loss to UC Riverside.
The Sharks took the court on Saturday afternoon less than 24 hours after their matchup against UC Irvine.Â
Freshman guardÂ
Mariah Elohim scored a team-high 16 points in her return home to California. The Westlake Village native went 3-for-3 from behind the arch.
Junior guard
Ashley Austin played another impressive game. The Compton, Calif., native also shined in her home state, scoring 11 points and led the team with 32:39 minutes.
The Sharks played a strong game and showed plenty of life in the fourth quarter. LIU scored nine straight points in the final frame to pull within two with less than five seconds left before time expired.
LIU is back in action next Saturday against Hofstra.
