WORCESTER, Mass. — The LIU men's hockey team heads back to Long Island for an eight-game homestand on a winning note.
The Sharks, road warriors early in the season, got two goals apiece from
Anthony Vincent and
Riley Wallack and defeated host Assumption, 5-1, on Saturday night at Worcester Ice Center.
On Saturday, LIU (2-8-1) snapped a seven-game skid that had come against some of the nation's elite teams.
Vincent, an alternate captain who joined the Sharks after playing as an undergraduate at Holy Cross, scored 42 seconds into the game. He produced his third two-goal game of the season, having also recorded the feat Oct. 8 at Stonehill and last Friday at Wisconsin.

Wallack, a freshman from South Surrey, B.C., produced the second and third goals of his collegiate career. His first collegiate goal had come Oct. 22 at Michigan State.
The Sharks built a 4-0 lead before Assumption produced a third-period goal.
Adam Goodsir's late power-play goal restored a four-goal advantage.
LIU resumes play immediately after Thanksgiving with a bevy of home games. That slate begins by hosting No. 13 Ohio State next Friday at 7:45 p.m. and next Saturday at 8 p.m. at Northwell Health Ice Center. Brown (Dec. 3-4), Franklin Pierce (Dec. 10-11), Northeastern (Dec. 18) and UConn (Dec. 29) also visit Long Island during the homestand.
