NEW HAVEN, Conn. — Saarah Olton scored a pair of goals. And that proved enough to keep the LIU field hockey team rolling in the Northeast Conference.
The Sharks defeated host Sacred Heart 2-1 at Yale's Johnson Field on Friday night to improve to 2-0 in the NEC.
Olton's second goal came as the result of a penalty corner and staked LIU to a two-goal lead in the second quarter.
That proved enough for goalie
Talia Seale, who surrendered only a single third-quarter goal.
The Sharks (5-7 overall) return to action Sunday at noon at Bethpage Federal Credit Union Stadium. The team will honor its seniors in a pregame ceremony.
"I really liked the effort and the energy this entire game," coach
Raenee Savin said. "We had things going against us coming into today's game. But they definitely fought through it and worked hard."
