EAST MEADOW, N.Y. — Jeannie Wallner's three-point performance and
Annie Abramson's outstanding play in net lifted LIU to a 3-1 win and sweep of consecutive NEWHA games against Post on Saturday afternoon at Northwell Health Ice Center.
Waller's second-period evened the score at 1. She then scored the game-winner midway through the third period.
"It's a great team win," said Wallner, who assisted
Abby Latorella's power-play goal in the final minutes to secure the win. "Our mentality is where we want it to be."
Abramson, making her second start of the season in place of reigning NEWHA Goaltender of the Year
Tindra Holm, stood tall in net for the Sharks. The freshman from Boise, Idaho, stopped seven shots to improve her collegiate record to 2-0.
"It feels great winning back-to-back games and seeing Annie shine in net," head coach
Kelly Nash said. "I think I would have liked to see us play a better overall 60 minutes. However, we are happy with how we finished the game."
LIU is back on the ice Friday, Nov. 11 at Saint Michael's.
