BROOKVILLE, N.Y. — The LIU men's soccer team's showdown for first place in the NEC went the wrong direction on Sunday.
Fairleigh Dickinson received a goal from Fallou Tounkara in the 16th minute and the Sharks fell to the Knights, 1-0, at LIU Soccer Park.
LIU, which recently had enjoyed a seven-match winning streak, now has one point in its past three matches.
FDU improved to 4-0-1 in the NEC, while LIU slipped to 3-2-1.
The Sharks (9-4-1 overall) have two regular-season matches remaining: against Saint Francis U for Senior Day next Sunday at LIU Soccer Park, then on Nov. 3 at St. Francis Brooklyn.
