BROOKVILLE, N.Y. – The LIU women's soccer team had a tough fought loss at the hands of Northeast Conference opponent Fairleigh Dickinson Sunday afternoon, falling 1-0. The decisive goal was a penalty kick called early in the first half.
12 minutes into the game, the official called a foul in the box on a member of the Shark defense, and FDU was able to convert the PK to go up 1-0. In the first half, the Knights out-shot LIU 11-1, and also had a 5-2 advantage on corners.
But LIU would get more offense going, and the second half saw more even numbers in both shots (6-5, with LIU registering more shots), and an even 3-3 on corner kicks.
Goalkeeper
Kayla DeTreux had four saves in net for LIU.
Up next, the Sharks travel south to take on the newest NEC opponent, Howard, Thursday, September 30 at 5 p.m. in Washington, D.C.
