TOWSON, Md. – The LIU field hockey team fell to American University, 3-0 in a neutral site game Friday afternoon, the first of two games for LIU in Maryland this weekend. With the loss, the Sharks move to 2-5 on the season.
 
The Eagles scored once in each of the first three periods to take the lead on LIU. The Sharks were out-shot in the contest, 13-2. Senior goalie Rachel Vellis made four saves in net. Senior forward Sammy Bell registered LIU's only two shots.
