BROOKVILLE, N.Y. - The LIU women's soccer team battled for 110 minutes in their home opener Thursday, but finished the evening with a 0-0 draw against Stony Brook. The Sharks and the Seawolves both move to 0-1-1 on the season with the double OT tie.

Stony Brook out-shot LIU 19-6, but shots on net were just a 5-3 advantage. Keeper Lydia Fraga Cordoba made five saves in the shutout, including saving a penalty kick in the 52nd minute. Tatiana Lizarraga, Oceana Garcia and Sami Jablonski all had shots on goal, but the SBU keeper made tough saves as well to keep the contest scoreless.

Up next, the Sharks hit the road to take on the University of Vermont, Thursday, September 2 at 6 p.m.
