FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The LIU women's soccer team opened the 2021 season on the road Thursday evening, taking on the Fairfield Stags, and falling 2-0. Junior keeper
Kayla DeTreux made nine saves in net.
Fairfield put on the pressure early, outshooting LIU 8-1 in the first half, but the Sharks held fast on defense, and the two teams were scoreless heading into the halftime break.
The Stags came out strong in the second half, registering two quick goals in the first six minutes to take the lead. The home team kept the pressure on, with 11 shots. DeTreux made five saves, finishing the day with nine total.

Sarah Borer both registered shots on goal for the Sharks in the contest.
