SMITHFIELD, R.I. – After a brief midseason pause, the LIU women's tennis team resumed its winning ways Friday afternoon, beating Bryant on the road, 4-3. The Sharks won the doubles point, but for the first time this season, dropped three singles matches, coming down to the wire before clinching the win.

"It wasn't easy for us today," head coach Jan Griga said. "I am happy that we were able to step it up when we needed to, in order to tough out the win. The doubles point was key, along with some clutch singles wins. Going 19 days without a match at this point of the season definitely hurt us, so it's right back to work tomorrow for us to prepare for Sunday."
 
In doubles, the squad of Victoria Erechtchenko and Jasmine Maduel won at No.2 singles, 6-2. After Bryant took the win in the No. 1 spot, LIU clinched the point with a victory at No. 3, where Bianca Compuesto and Elinor Storkaas won, 6-3.
 
In singles, Bryant won in the No.1 spot, 6-1, 6-0, to even the match score up, 1-1. Valentina Dancenco won at No. 2, 6-3, 6-2, to give LIU a 2-1 lead, but Bryant would get a win at No. 4 to tie it back up.
 
After Erechtchenko put LIU up with her win at No. 3 singles, 6-1, 7-5, the Bulldogs wono a 7-5, 7-5 victory in the six spot, to tie it up, 3-3. In dramatic fashion, it was sophomore Bianca Compesto who would clinch the match for LIU, as she won 7-5, 6-4 at No. 5 singles, beating her opponent to give LIU the 4-3 win.
