Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women’s Soccer Wins Season Opener over Mount, 1-0

BROOKVILLE, N.Y. – The LIU women's soccer team opened the 2020-21 season with an exciting win, beating Mount St. Mary's Tuesday, 1-0. With the win, head coach Collin Audley's first as a head coach, LIU moves to 1-0 in the Northeast Conference this season.

The game got off to a slow start, with only six shots between the two teams in the first half. The second half saw more offense, as the Sharks started putting pressure on Mount's defense. LIU would take eight shots in the second half, including one by sophomore Tatiana Lizarraga that hit off the crossbar in the 63rd minute.

Two minutes later, LIU got on the board, when freshman Sami Jablonski would score her first collegiate goal to put LIU on top, 1-0.

Though Mount would up the pressure in the final minutes, LIU's defense shut down attempts, and the Sharks took the win, 1-0.

Up next, the Sharks travel north to take on Bryant, Tuesday, March 16.
