Women’s Tennis Shuts Down SFU, 7-0

BROOKVILLE, N.Y. – The LIU women's tennis team continued its dominance of Northeast Conference teams early in the dual match season Saturday, shutting out its second-straight team. LIU beat Saint Francis U., 7-0 on the road.
 
The Red Flash had forfeits at No. 3 doubles and No. 6 singles, but LIU still had strong performances at every other spot in the lineup en route to the win.
 
In doubles, the Sharks went 6-0 against SFU twice, as both Nos. 1 and 2 doubles didn't let their opponents win a game.
 
In singles, Sofiya Kuzina had the first win of the day, putting LIU up 3-0 in the match when she beat her opponent in the No. 1 spot, 6-4, 6-2. And Victoria Erechtchenko clinched the match for LIU when she won at No. 2 singles, 6-1, 4-6, 6-2.
 
Elinor Storkaas was next, beating her opponent in the No. 3 spot, 7-6(5), 0-6, 6-4, while Kate Jorjoliani won at No. 4, 7-5, 6-3. And sophomore Phoebe Watton wrapped up the sweep with her win in the No. 5 singles spot, 6-3, 6-3.
