SMITHFIELD, R.I. - The LIU men's soccer team opened the 2020-21 season Monday night on the road against Bryant, battling the Bulldogs to a 1-1 tie.
 
The Sharks would score first in the matchup, getting on the board in the 28th minute, as freshman Andre Puente scored off a pass from classmate Emil Jaaskelainen to put LIU up, 1-0.
 
Bryant would score to tie it up early in the second half. From there, the two teams would both have chances, but neither team was able to get on goal, and the teams ended tied at 1-1.
 
Bryant outshot LIU, 13-7 in the contest. Sophomore keeper Demetri Skoumbakis had three saves in net for the Sharks.  
 
Up next, LIU returns home to host Sacred Heart, Monday, March 8 at 1 p.m.
