BROOKVILLE, N.Y. – The Long Island University wrestling team returned to the mat for its final regular-season dual of the season, playing host to the Drexel University Dragons on Saturday, Feb. 6 inside the Pratt Recreation Center. The Sharks came up short in the Eastern Intercollegiate Wrestling Association matchup, 35-9.
Drexel jumped out to an early 11-point lead with a technical fall and pin at 184 and 197. LIU bounced back, however, as junior
Tim Nagosky earned a pin at heavyweight in 3:43 to pull the Sharks within five points. Freshman
Bryce Cockrell added to the LIU point total with a 7-4 decision over Antonio Mininno at 125 to make it 11-9.
The Dragons proved to be too much the rest of the way, taking the next six bouts to pull away and clinch the victory.
The Sharks will return to action at the EIWA Championship on Feb. 26. The location for the event will be announced in the near future.
