SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The LIU women's hockey team wrapped up their two-game series at Syracuse Saturday, falling to the Orange, 5-0. With the loss, the Sharks move to 2-7-0 on the season.
LIU would hold the home team scoreless for nearly all of the first period, only letting one power play goal get by in the final seven minutes. The Orange would add two goals in the second period, and two more in the third, to put the final score at 5-0.
The Sharks were outshot in the game, 60-24, but LIU had more efficient shooting, as 18 of the 24 shots were on net. Sophomore
Carrigan Umpherville led LIU with three shots on goal. And sophomore
Kenzie Harmison was strong in net, making 42 saves for the Sharks.
The next scheduled game for the Sharks is a matchup at Sacred Heart University, Wednesday, February 24 at 12 p.m.
