Late Stumble Costs MBB at the Mount

EMMITSBURG, Md. – After leading for most of the game, the LIU men's basketball team saw their shot slip away in Knott Arena Thursday night; Mount St. Mary's would outscore the Sharks 7-0 in the final minute and a half of action, taking the win, 66-60.

SHARK BITES
  • After Mount took an early 4-2 lead in the contest, the Sharks came back and using a three from Jermaine Jackson Jr., went up 7-4. They would hold on to that lead for nearly 80 percent of the game, including by as many as nine points in the second half.
  • LIU's defense contributed to the lead several times, including back-to-back steals by Eral Penn and Virshon Cotton at the start of the second half that the Sharks would convert to points, taking a 38-30 lead.
  • The Sharks would struggle to make shots, shooting 32.4 percent from the field, and 29.2 percent from three-point range. Fouls would also cost LIU late in the contest.
  • Junior Jermaine Jackson Jr. led LIU with 19 points, including going 4-for-5 from three-point range.
  • Junior Virshon Cotton had 13 points and three steals, while both Ty Flowers and Eral Penn had double doubles for LIU. Flowers finished with 11 points and 10 rebounds, along with four assists, while Penn had 10 points and 12 rebounds.
