EAST MEADOW, N.Y. – The LIU men's ice hockey team played at home for the first time in program history Friday night, beating Assumption in front of a raucous crowd at Northwell Ice Center, 7-0.
Freshman
Jordan Timmons led LIU with two goals in the win, while
Jake Stevens had a team-high three assists.
Billy Jerry started scoring for the Sharks four minutes into the game, on an unassisted goal.
Gustav Müller was next just after the 11th minute, off passes from Jerry and
Max Balinson. The Sharks added two more goals in the second period, when
Spencer Cox made it 3-0, and Timmons scored on a power play to make it 4-0.
LIU added three more goals in the third period, from Timmons,
Preston Brodziak and
Nolan Welsh, to take a 7-0 lead on the Greyhounds. Brodziak,
Carson Musser,
Jordan Di Cicco,
Derek Osik and
Isaiah Fox all had assists for LIU Friday.
