FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The LIU women's soccer team battled with Sacred Heart on the road Thursday, falling to the Pioneers, 1-0.
SHU outpaced LIU offensively throughout the game, registering 28 shots to the Sharks' six, and had 11 corner kicks.

Kayla DeTreux single-handedly kept LIU in the game, making 14 saves in net, and maintaining the 0-0 tie until the 88th minute of action. Sacred Heart would score the only goal of the game after a corner kick, going up, 1-0. The Pioneers would keep the Sharks from any further shots in the last two minutes, taking the Northeast Conference win.
With the loss, LIU moves to 2-5-1 in NEC action. Up next, they host Bryant at LIU Soccer Park, Sunday, October 24 at 11 a.m.
