STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. – The LIU women's soccer team fell to Northeast Conference foe Wagner on the road Sunday, 2-0. With the loss, the Sharks move to 2-4-1 in NEC action.
The game was an evenly matched one throughout, in shots and corner kicks, and neither team scored in the first half.
The score would remain 0-0 until late in the second half, when an own goal by the Sharks put Wagner on the board. The 1-0 lead gave the home team momentum, and in the 80th minute, Wagner peppered goalie
Kayla DeTreux with several shots. Of the four shots, one finally went in off a rebound at 80:48, giving the Seahawks a 2-1 lead.
The Sharks would get some chances late in the game, including a shot by
Kendra Oldroyd that went off the post, but LIU couldn't convert, falling to Wagner, 2-0.
