LOWELL, Mass. – The LIU field hockey team took on UMass Lowell on the road Sunday afternoon, falling to the River Hawks in a non-conference match up that went to overtime, 2-1.
The Sharks got on board first in the game, scoring a goal on a penalty stroke, taken by
Emilce Paez. The home team tied it up in the fourth period, scoring six minutes into the stanza on a scramble in front of the net to tie it up, 1-1.
The two teams battled to the end of 60 minutes of regulation without anyone else scoring, forcing overtime. The River Hawks would score the game-winning goal just over two minutes into the period, stealing the 2-1 win from the Sharks.
