FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The LIU women's ice hockey team made it two in a row Saturday evening, beating Sacred Heart on the road, 2-1 in overtime.
Sacred Heart scored first on a power play goal in the second period, to make it 1-0. Three minutes later, freshman
Mary Rachel Lenaeus evened it up with her goal, assisted by
Stella Scott that tied it up, 1-1.
Neither team would score again in regulation, despite nearly 40 combined shots from the two team in the third period.
But in overtime, LIU would find a way to get ahead. Junior
Alva Johnsson scored the game-winner for the Sharks off a pass from
Matilda af Bjur, clinching LIU's 2-1 win.
Freshman goalie
Tindra Holm made 31 saves for LIU in net.
