BROOKVILLE, N.Y. – The LIU field hockey team put up big offensive numbers in their home game Friday, beating Merrimack 9-1. With the win, the Sharks move to 3-1 in Northeast Conference action.
The Sharks started scoring just 90 seconds into the game, and didn't stop. LIU would score a at least one goal in each period. LIU took 34 shots in the game, and had 12 penalty corners to Merrimack's six.
Sophomore
Sol Espona led LIU with a hat trick, scoring three goals for the Sharks, while
Kaitlyn Olton had two.
Felicia King had a goal and two assists, while
Meilin Liotard also had a goal and two assists.
Emilce Paez had a goal and an assist, while
Sammy Bell also added a goal.
Shelby Card and
Nika Reichert also had assists for LIU in the win.
