BROOKVILLE, N.Y. - The LIU women's soccer team dropped a non-conference matchup at home Tuesday afternoon, falling to the Temple Owls. 2-1. Teh game was an even draw for most of the match, as neither team scored until the final 20 minutes of play.
Temple got on the board first, capitalizing on an LIU turnover in the 74th minute to find the back of the net and make it 1-0. Eight minutes later, the Owls scored again to make it 2-0 with less than eight minutes to play.
The Sharks remained focused and maintained pressure. In the 85th minute, defender
Taylor Curcio hit a long ball over Temple's defense, where sophomore
Sami Jablonski fielded the ball, and snuck it past the Temple goalie. With LIU on the board, 2-1, the home team tried to make up the difference in the final four minutes of play, but Temple would hold on to take the midweek win.
The Sharks resume NEC play this Sunday, traveling to take on Wagner at 6 p.m.
