HAMDEN, Conn. - The LIU women's ice hockey team fell to No. 10 Quinnipiac on the road Friday evening, 9-1. The Bobcats, who were ranked 10th in the latest USHCO poll, moved to 3-0 on the season with the win.
Quinnipiac scored first in the game, notching a goal in the third minute, but LIU was able to answer less than three minutes later, when
Carrigan Umpherville scored with help from
Matilda af Bjur to knot it up, 1-1. But later in the period, the home team scored on two power plays, widening the lead to 3-1 after the first.
The Bobcats added three more goals in the second, and three more goals in the third, to finish the game with a 9-1 advantage. Goalie
Kenzie Harmison made 43 saves in net for LIU.
Up next, the two teams face off in a rematch, Saturday, October 2 at 3 p.m.
