LEWISBURG, Pa. – The LIU wrestling team kicked off competition in 2021, taking part in a round robin tournament with Bucknell and Virginia Military Institute Sunday. The Sharks had several strong performances in the first meet of the year.
 
Freshman Drew Witham led the way, taking first place in the 141 lbs bracket. Witham went 3-0, with decisions over Kuris Phipps from Bucknell (9-7), Freddy Junko from VMI (5-4), and Noah Roulo of VMI (6-3).
 
Junior James Langan also had a highlight for LIU, as he won his first-round match over Joel Diaz of VMI, with a pin in just 25 seconds.
 
Up next, the Sharks head to take on Army in a dual meet, Saturday, January 9 at 2 p.m.
