SYOSSET, N.Y. – The LIU women's ice hockey team registered its first win of the season Wednesday afternoon at Ice Works, when the Sharks downed NEWHA foe Sacred Heart, 4-1.

• LIU got on the board first, scoring two goals in the first period in just over a minute. The first goal of the day was scored by sophomore Alva Johnson. She was assisted on the play by classmates Matilda af Bjur and Carrigan Umpherville, making it 1-0 for the home team.
• Just over a minute later, sophomore Abby Latorella made it 2-0 with her unassisted goal.
• LIU would add a third goal in the second period. Freshman Ashley Morrow scored her first collegiate goal on a power play, with help from Megan Roe and Paula Bergström.
• SHU got on the board in the second, scoring a power play goal of its own.
• But LIU would answer quickly, scoring almost immediately at the start of the third period. Sophomore Megan Bouveur scored her first goal of the season, assisted by the two freshman, Morrow and Rowe, making it 4-1 Sharks.
• Sophomore Kenzie Harison got the win in net for LIU, making 23 saves in the game.
• The next schedule game for the Sharks is Wednesday, February 3 – LIU will take on Sacred Heart once again, this time in Fairfield, Conn.
