Women’s Hockey Knocked By Knights

POTSDAM, N.Y. – The LIU women's hockey team fell to Clarkson University in the second matchup in as many days Tuesday. The Sharks dropped an 8-1 decision to the Golden Knights.

The home team jumped out to an early lead on the Sharks, 3-0, before LIU would get on the board. The Sharks scored with just over a minute left in the first period, their first short-handed goal of the season. Sophomore Linn Ploug scored the goal, with assist credited to Matilda af Bjur, and the deficit was cut to 3-1.

But it was the last time the Sharks would find the back of the net. Clarkson would add two goals in the second period, and three more in the third, to take the final decision, 8-1.

Despite the final score, sophomore goalie Kenzie Harmison had a strong performance, making 40 saves in net for the Sharks. Grace Dima, Stella Scott and af Bjur all had two blocked shots for the Sharks, while Alva Johnsson led the team with six shots, five of which were on goal.

With the loss, LIU moved to 0-3 on the season. Up next, the Sharks take on Quinnipiac on the road, Saturday, January 16 at 3 p.m
