HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. – The Long Island rivalry was renewed for the Long Island University wrestling team as the Sharks took on Hofstra University on Sunday, Jan. 26 inside the David S. Mack Sports and Exhibition Complex.
Hofstra proved to be the stronger squad as the Pride won eight of nine contested bouts, earning a 38-6 victory in the first dual between the two schools since the 1988-89 season.

Ryan Ferro was impressive for the second-straight week, pinning Charlie Kane in 1:13 for LIU's lone win of the day. Ferro improves to 2-1 since joining LIU for the spring semester. Sophomore
James Langan had a strong showing at 174, earning two points with just seconds remaining in the final period to tie the score but Hofstra's Sage Heller garnered one point for riding time to earn a 7-6 decision.
The Sharks will host their final four duals inside the Pratt Recreation Center to close out the regular season. The stretch begins on Friday, Jan. 31 when the Blue and Gold host Columbia University beginning at 5:00 p.m.
