BROOKVILLE, N.Y. – After returning from a two-week hiatus during the holiday season last week, the Long Island University wrestling team is set to host The Citadel in its final non-conference event of the season on Saturday, Jan. 11 at 11:00 a.m. inside the Pratt Recreation Center.
LIU (2-14, 0-2 EIWA) is will look to earn its third dual victory of the season against, while the Bulldogs compete in just their second dual match of the 2019-20 slate on Saturday.
It will be a busy day for the Bulldogs who square off with the host Sharks Saturday morning before making the short trek to Hempstead to grapple with Hofstra University in the afternoon. Saturday's dual will be the second-most northern event of the season for The Citadel who opened its campaign at the Journeymen Collegiate Classic on Nov. 10 in Troy, N.Y.
The Bulldogs toppled Presbyterian College on Dec. 20 in its opening dual match of the season, with sophomores Selwyn Porter and Dazjon Casto pinning their opponents during the victory.
The Blue and Gold return to Brookville after an impressive showing by senior
Dan McClure at the David H. Lehman Open last weekend. McClure finished with a 2-1 mark on the day, reaching the semifinals of the 184-pound bracket before defaulting to Ohio State University's Rocky Jordan due to injury. Despite the injury, McClure claimed fourth-place at the event as LIU's only place-winner. Sophomore
James Langan earned three wins on the day at 174, while freshman
Michael Blando also picked up two wins at 141.
