Gannon has competed just once this season, though the Golden Knights took home the team championship at the Mount Union Open on Nov. 9.
Jacob Dunlop took home first in the 125 division and Joel Leise captured the title at 184, while Alex Farenchak and Luigi Yates earned runner-up finishes at 165 and 174, respectively.
24 of Gannon's 27 competitors picked up at least one win on the day, and 18 achieved multiple victories. Overall, the Knights went 58-41, recording 18 pinfalls, six technical falls and six major decisions.
EARLY TEST FOR OHIO
The Bobcats have grappled in just one dual match this season, falling to No. 21 Campbell University 24-16 on Nov. 10. Logan Stanley highlighted the individual victories for the Bobcats by earning a second-period pinfall against Charlie Andrews at 174, while Alec Hagan posted a major decision win against Zach Barnes at 149.
Ohio also earned six top-five finishes at the Michigan State Open, led by a fourth-place finish in the open division by Hagan. EDINBORO OFF TO FAST START
The Fighting Scots boast a 3-1 dual record to begin the season, suffering their only loss to the No. 7 University of Wisconsin on Nov. 8. Edinboro took down Kent State University, Mercyhurst University, and Ashland University on Nov. 2. The Fighting Scots shutout Mercyhurst, earning a 52-0 victory behind three pinfalls and three technical falls.
Earlier this year the Mid-American Conference announced the addition of the seven Eastern Wrestling League members, including Edinboro, as affiliate members. The move brings the MAC to 15 teams, the second-largest wrestling conference in Division I behind LIU and the Eastern Intercollegiate Wrestling Association.
Six individuals were ranked at each weight class in the MAC preseason coaches' poll, with three Fighting Scots appearing in the individual rankings. Dylan Reynolds is the highest-ranked Fighting Scot, coming in third at 197 lbs. The redshirt senior enjoyed a breakout season in 2018-19, finishing with a 32-12 record after winning 24 matches his previous two years. Jacob Oliver and Jon Spaulding are ranked fourth at 174 and 285 lbs., respectively. Oliver was Edinboro's lone NCAA qualifier a year ago. As a redshirt-freshman, he finished with a 28-7 record, including 10-1 in dual matches. Oliver placed second at the Eastern Wrestling League Championships after previously placing first at the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Championships. Spaulding took over as the starter at heavyweight a year ago. The junior posted a 22-14 record with four falls. He placed third at the EWL Championships.
