MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – Two early goals by the Sharks were enough for the Long Island University men's soccer team to overtake Robert Morris University by a 3-0 margin in Northeast Conference action on Friday, Nov. 1.
It took less than four minutes for the Sharks to take the lead when senior
Kyle Parish floated a free kick into the penalty area from 30 yards out, bouncing once before sneaking inside the right post for the opening tally. Just over 10 minutes later, LIU drew a foul in the penalty area and freshman
Papa Ndoye continued his impressive start to his career by burying a low attempt on the left side of the frame to give the Blue and Gold a 2-0 advantage.
The Colonials placed two shots on goal during the second half, but freshman goalkeeper
Demetri Skoumbakis saved both shots to earn his second-consecutive shutout in goal. Junior
Jonas Dovland added his first goal of the season during the 71st minute to give LIU the 3-0 victory.
The Sharks held a 6-2 advantage in shots on goal for the match, while also earning seven corner kicks to just two for the Colonials.
LIU concludes its weekend of action on Sunday, Nov. 3 when it travels to Mount St. Mary's University
