Jesse Dellavecchia

Long Island native Jesse Dellavecchia joined the LIU wrestling staff as an assistant coach in June 2022.

As a college wrestler, Dellavecchia becameĀ a two-time All-American,Ā three-time NCAA qualifier,Ā the first national finalist in Rider history, was the 2021 Mid-American Conference Wrestler of the Year, and twice earned MAC championships at 157 pounds. He was Rider's two-time Male Athlete of the Year and produced an 87-14 record as a Bronc.

His march to the NCAA finals in 2021 included pinning top-seeded and previously unbeaten Ryan Deakin of Northwestern in the semifinals.Ā HeĀ finished second to Iowa State’s David Carr in the national championship bout.

Dellavecchia, who began his collegiate career at Binghamton, wrestled for Guy Leggio and Mike Longobardi at East Islip High School. He was a two-time New York State finalist and three-time place winner.

He spent the 2021-22 season as a volunteer assistant coach with Army West Point.
