Brent Troyan completed his first season as goaltending coach for the Long Island University women’s ice hockey team during the 2019-20 season.
Troyan comes to LIU with professional goaltending experience and extensive knowledge of goaltending development. During the course of his eight-year career as a goalie (ECHL, SPHL, and FHL,) Troyan worked with elite coaches and players honing his skills day in, day out. During off-seasons, Troyan was a highly sought-after goalie coach for the largest youth hockey development camp in the nation, Pro Ambitions.
With a proven track record of leadership and results, he was promoted to Co-Director of Goaltending in 2017 where he shared the position with Mike Buckley, goaltending coach of the NHL Pittsburgh Penguins. In 2019, Troyan took over the role of Director of Goaltending exclusively.
Troyan teaches fundamentals and technique while encouraging confidence, athleticism, and individual goaltending style. He established the Troyan Goaltending Academy in 2018 when he relocated to Long Island from Johnstown, PA.
