Steve Gilbert

Steven Gilbert

Steven Gilbert joined the LIU staff in May 2022. He serves as the co-defensive coordinator.

Gilbert focuses on the team’s post development, scouting and recruiting.

Prior to his time at LIU, he sent a season at Northwest Florida State College under Bart Walker where the team finished 27-3 and was ranked No.1 in the country for 12 straight weeks.

Before NWFSC, he served as the head Coach for Colorado Northwestern Community College.

Prior to his time at CNCC, he served as the lead assistant at Neosho County Community College where he was responsible for recruiting, scouting, skill development and defense.

Before entering the college world, Gilbert was an high school head coach for four years where he guided multiple teams to the state tournament, coaching in Florida and New Mexico. 

Prior to coaching high school, he was an AAU coach for Showtime Hoops, who is now known as 1 Family. He was the head coach of the 12U team and the 17U team. 

Gilbert played college basketball for Webber International University. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Biological Science from Florida State University and a master’s degree in Secondary Education from Grand Canyon University. 

A Jacksonville, Fla. native, Gilbert scored 1,700 points in his high school career and tallied over 1,000 rebounds at Trinity Christian Academy.
