LIU Completes Sweep of Stonehill with 7-3 Win on Senior Day

The Sharks celebrated Senior Day on Sunday as Mike Polubinski homered in win

BROOKVILLE, N.Y. – LIU celebrated Senior Day by completing the three-game sweep of Stonehill with a 7-3 win on Sunday.
 
The Sharks were led by Mike Polubinski, who went 1-for-3 with a home run, while scoring three runs in the victory. Nick Matson collected two hits as part of a 2-for-3 outing with one RBI, and Joseph Durso went 1-for-3 while driving in a pair as well.
 
Dale Fry was steady on the mound, surrendering three runs through five innings as the game remained tied upon his departure. Owen Luchies, Torin Kassebaum, and Alex Jankowski combined for four scoreless innings in relief as LIU's scoring support mounted in the later innings to secure the victory. Jankowski was credited with the save after striking out three in the final two innings.

Isaac Beebe
 
A native of Berlin, New Jersey, Isaac made his LIU debut in 2026.
 
Owen Luchies
 
A native of Victoria, BC, Canada, Owen is a multi-time NEC Spring Academic Honor Roll & Commissioner's Honor Roll honoree at LIU.
 
Lawrence Elinson
 
A native of Marlboro, New Jersey, Lawrence has made both the NEC Spring Academic Honor Roll & Commissioner's Honor Roll three years in a row.
 
Dominic Vassallo
 
A native of Brooklyn, New York, Dominic is a four-year member of the Sharks and previously made the NEC Spring Honor Roll.
 
Cord Dobrinski
 
A native of Bristow, Oklahoma, Cord is a multi-time NEC Player of the Week, winning the award in back-to-back weeks this season.
 
Matthew McGurk
 
A native of Commack, New York, Matthew has earned NEC Prime Performer honors and has made the NEC Spring Honor Roll multiple times.
 
Nicolas Benhardt
 
A native of Sound Beach, New York, Nicolas earned NEC Spring Honor Roll recognition in 2025.
 
Jack Ryan
 
A native of Breezy Point, New York, Jack is a four-year member of the Sharks who has made the NEC Spring Honor Roll multiple times.
 
Justin DeCastro
 
A native of Howard Beach, New York, Justin is a four-year member of the Sharks who has made the NEC Spring Honor Roll multiple times while earning NEC Pitcher of the Week honors. In 2025, he was named to the NEC All-Conference Second Team while ranking second in the conference in innings pitched.
 
Ryan Rivera
 
A native of San Diego, California, Ryan made NEC Spring Honor Roll last season while being named to the NEC All-Conference First Team and All-NEC Tournament Team. He was an NEC Player of the Week and 4x Prime Performer while ranking fourth in batting average and third in RBI in the conference.
 
Noah Sorensen
 
A native of Montrose, Pennsylvania, Noah has made the NEC Spring Honor Roll multiple times and is a multi-time NEC Prime Performer. Last season, he ranked third in the NEC in sacrifices and sixth in walks.
 
Joseph Durso
 
A native of Seaford, New York, Joseph is a multi-time NEC Prime Performer.
