BROOKVILLE, N.Y. – LIU defeated Le Moyne 12-9 in their series finale Saturday, improving to 10-5 in conference play.
Down 1-0 in the second, the Sharks stole back the lead early on thanks to RBI singles from
Nate Figueroa and
Elijah Fairchild in the bottom of the inning to make it 2-1. LIU would tack on two more runs in the bottom of the fifth to take a 4-2 lead, but eventually fell behind as Le Moyne went on to score four in the top of the sixth.
The opponent's 6-4 advantage wouldn't last long, however, as LIU stormed back yet again with three runs in the bottom of the inning.
Cord Dobrinski hit a clutch two-run home run to tie the game, and
Ryan Rivera later scored on an error to help the Sharks regain the lead.
Fairchild and Rivera each drove in a pair in the seventh, and a solo home run by
Joseph Durso in the eighth gave the Sharks some insurance runs to help secure the victory.
All in all, it was a 3-for-5 day for Fairchild, complete with three RBI and two runs scored as he assumed the lead-off spot Saturday. Rivera also came up in the clutch with a 2-for-4 performance, including a double and two driven in. Dobrinski's two-run shot propelled him to a 2-for-3 day with two runs scored and two RBI.
The Sharks return to the field Tuesday, April 7, visiting UAlbany at 3 p.m.
