New Britain, Conn. — LIU opened its series against CCSU with a win Friday, boasting the team's best offensive performance of the season with an 18-8 victory.
Scoring a season-high in runs, the Sharks had positive contributions across the lineup. Lead-off hitter
Noah Sorensen (an NEC Prime Performer back on Feb. 24) went 2-for-4, with a home run, double, and season-high four RBI.
Nick Matson (3-for 6 with 3 RBI),
Joseph Durso (3-for-3 with four runs scored, 1 RBI), and
Cord Dobrinski (3-for-4 with 3 RBI), all had three hit performances, each headlined by a homer as well.
Mike Polubinski, who previously earned a Prime Performer nod on March 10, chipped in with a 3-for-6 performance of his own (including a double).
Nicholas Finarelli set the tone on the mound, allowing just two runs and three hits in six innings while striking out four to earn the win. LIU scored twelve runs between the seventh and eighth innings alone, winning by double-digits for the third time this season.
