Grace Babington was named New England Women's Hockey Alliance (NEWHA) Player of the Month, freshman defender
Addison Robillard was named defensive player of the month, and redshirt sophomore goaltender
Victoria Rutnik was named goaltender of the month in January, the conference announced on Wednesday. The LIU trio helped lead the Sharks to a 6-2 NEWHA record in the month.
Babington, who was named player of the week on Jan. 13, scored seven goals with five assists in 10 games. She posted multi-point performances three times (Jan. 9 vs. St. Michael's, Jan. 23 at Stonehill, Jan. 31 at Franklin Pierce).
Babington currently ranks second in the league with 23 points and is tied for third with 11 goals.
Robillard was named defensive player and rookie of the week on Jan. 7. She scored two goals with five assists, recording two multi-point games (Jan. 23 at Stonehill & Jan. 31 at Franklin Pierce).
Rutnik, who earned goaltender of the week honors for the final week of the month, made six appearances in January. She recorded a 1.33 goals against average and a .957 save percentage with two shutouts.
Babington, Robillard, and Rutnik are the first LIU players to earn NEWHA monthly honors this season.
The Sharks return to action on Friday, Feb. 6, in the first game of a weekend home pair versus Saint Anselm College. Puck drop at Northwell Health Ice Center is scheduled for 3 p.m.
