EAST MEADOW, N.Y. - Senior forward
Noah Serdachny of the Long Island University men's ice hockey team was named NCAA Division I Independent Hockey Player of the Month, the American Hockey Coaches Association (AHCA) announced on Wednesday.
In seven games in January, Serdachny scored three goals with seven assists totaling 10 points. He posted two multi-point performances, highlighted by a four-point game on Jan. 27 at The University of Alaska Anchorage, helping the Sharks complete a three-game sweep of the Seawolves.
Serdachny currently leads LIU with nine goals this season and is tied for the team lead with 23 points.
Serdachny's award is the third independent hockey monthly honor claimed by the Sharks this season. Freshman forward Dlyan Kinch was named rookie of the month in October and November.
The Sharks posted a 4-3 record in January and are currently projected to hold the top seed at next month's inaugural United Collegiate Hockey Cup.
LIU returns to action on Friday, Feb. 13, versus Stonehill College in the first game of this season's final home series at Northwell Health Ice Center. Puck drop is scheduled for 2 p.m.
