INDIANAPOLIS — Kadidia Toure of the Long Island University women's basketball team continues to add to her trophy case after an impressive week on the court, picking up Player of the Week honors from the U.S. Basketball Writers Association on Wednesday.
Toure also received Player of the Week awards from the Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association on Tuesday and the NEC on Monday.
The senior forward averaged 25.5 points, 12 rebounds, 4.5 assists, three steals, and two blocks per game in LIU's wins over Mercyhurst University and Saint Francis University last week, as the Sharks defeated the Lakers 86-81 and the Red Flash 77-61. Both wins came on the road.
Against the Lakers on Thursday, Toure netted a career-high 29 points on 12-20 shooting in LIU's five-point road win, collecting 14 rebounds in the win.
Toure followed that up with a 22-point night at Saint Francis on Saturday, leading the Sharks with 10 rebounds and seven assists.
The Silver Spring, Maryland native leads the NEC with seven double-doubles this winter, a mark tied for the 22nd-most across Division I. Toure, the NEC's leading scorer and rebounder, is averaging a double-double this season (19.7 points per game, 10.6 rebounds per game).
LIU returns to Brooklyn on Thursday, Jan. 15, to host Le Moyne College at 7 p.m. at the Steinberg Wellness Center.
