EAST MEADOW, N.Y. - Junior forward
Grace Babington of the Long Island University women's ice hockey team was named New England Women's Hockey Alliance (NEWHA) Player of the Week, the conference announced on Tuesday. The award is Babington's first of this season and the third NEWHA Player of the Week award of her career.
This past weekend in two games versus Saint Michael's College, Babington scored three goals with five total points, as the Sharks earned a weekend sweep of the Purple Knights. She finished the weekend with a +6 rating.
In Friday's 4-1 win, Babington scored a goal with two assists. On Saturday, Babington scored two more goals as the Sharks earned a 4-0 victory.
Babington joins teammates
Addison Robillard (rookie & defensive player, Jan. 7),
Clara Kammholz (goaltender, Jan. 7 & Sept. 30), and
Emma Mörtl (defensive player, Dec. 9) as NEWHA weekly award winners this season.
LIU returns to action this Friday versus Assumption University in the first game of a home weekend pair. Puck drop at Northwell Health Ice Center is scheduled for 3 p.m. Television coverage will be available on FloHockey.
