ODENSE, Denmark - Carrigan Umpherville of the Long Island University women's hockey team has signed a contract to play professionally for the Odense Bulldogs of the Danish Women's Hockey League (DWHL), the team announced. Umpherville, who spent six seasons with the program, becomes the sixth player to sign a professional contract in the program's history and the third member of the 2025 graduating class along with former teammates Bri Eid and Anna Fairman.

"A big congratulations to Carrigan on signing with the Odense Bulldogs - such an incredible achievement and well-deserved recognition of her exceptional talent," said head coach Kelly Nash. "As a foundational member of LIU women's ice hockey's inaugural class in 2019, she helped build something special here and we couldn't be prouder to see her taking her skills to the professional level."

In her collegiate career, Umpherville made 143 appearances, scoring 46 goals with 60 assists for 106 total points. She was named a second-team all-conference selection three times ('19-'20, '21-'22, & '22-'23) and a member of the New England Women's Hockey Alliance (NEWHA) All-Tournament Team two times ('20 & '23).

After missing the 2023-2024 season, Umpherville returned in 2024-2025 as an alternate captain. In her final season as a Shark, Umpherville appeared in all 34 games and totaled 15 points (3 goals, 12 assists), helping guide LIU to a NEWHA regular season championship.

A native of Cross Lake, Manitoba, Canada, Umpherville won two conference tournament titles as a Shark ('20 & '23) and played in the program's first-ever NCAA Tournament game when LIU battled the University of Wisconsin in 2023.

Umpherville graduated from LIU with undergraduate and graduate degrees in criminal justice, receiving NEWHA all-academic recognition multiple times.

"I'm so excited to be joining the Odense Bulldogs in Denmark for this upcoming season and to begin a new chapter in my hockey career," said Umpherville. "I'm so honored to have played my college career at LIU since its inaugural season. I'm grateful and glad to have had coaches that believed in me and trusted in my abilities as a player and person. I'll always cherish the memories that I've made during my time there."
