BROOKVILLE, N.Y. - The Long Island University football team (1-1) was named Stats Perform FCS National Team of the Week for week two of the season, Stats Perform announced on Monday. This past Saturday, LIU upset Eastern Michigan University, 28-23, earning the program's first-ever victory over a team from the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS). The Sharks never trailed in the game.

LIU also received five votes in this week's Stats Perform FCS Top 25 Poll, securing votes in the poll for the first time in program history.

The Sharks return to action next Saturday as LIU hosts Sacred Heart University in its home opener and annual homecoming game. Opening kickoff is slated for 12 p.m. Television coverage will be available digitally on NEC Front Row and the game can be heard on the LIU Sharks Audio Network via the Varsity Network App beginning at 11:30 a.m.
