BRIDGEWATER, N.J. - Sara van Gisteren of the Long Island University women's volleyball team was named as an NEC Prime Performer on Wednesday, following an impressive performance at the Grand Canyon University Invitational last weekend.
van Gisteren, a native of Leuth, Netherlands, totaled a team-high 44 total kills in three matches, along with 23 digs, 4.36 points per set, three service aces, and two total blocks at the GCU Invitational.
Against the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley on Sunday, van Gisteren recorded a team-high 25 kills in a closely contested match, adding 13 digs and one block. The junior outside hitter was also named to the GCU Invitational All-Tournament Team.
LIU travels to Fairfield, Connecticut for the Sacred Heart Invitational this weekend, beginning the trip with a match against the host Sacred Heart University on Friday, Sept. 5, at 6 p.m.
