BROOKVILLE, N.Y. — LIU opened up conference play with a 2-2 tie against Mercyhurst on Thursday afternoon.
The Sharks trailed by one at the half, but
Monica Viveros' goal at the 53:26 mark tied things up for LIU off an assist from
Casey Beauregard. Mercyhurst answered back later in the half, scoring at 85:44 to put the pressure back on the Sharks.
LIU showed resilience, however, in the 88th minute.
Betty Hall scored a penalty kick goal to tie the score 2-2 as the Sharks held firm with time expiring to secure the tie.
The Sharks had a season-high 17 shots (including nine on goal) in the contest.
The team will play next on Sunday, Sept. 21, visiting Delaware State at 3 p.m.
