BRIDGEWATER, N.J. - Freshman defensive lineman
Naquan Johnson from the Long Island University football team was named NEC Atlantic Tomorrow's Office Rookie of the Week, the conference announced on Monday. Johnson also received NEC Prime Performer recognition for week three of the season.
This past Saturday versus Sacred Heart University, Johnson recorded two sacks for -18 yards and four tackles for loss for a combined -29 yards. He registered eight tackles in total (6 solo, 2 assisted) and forced a fumble.
The weekly honor is Johnson's first of his career, and the fourth earned by an LIU football player this season. Previously, redshirt junior quarterback
Luca Stanzani was named offensive player of the week (week two), graduate student linebacker
Rafael Fasolino was named defensive player of the week (week two), and senior punter
Will Lynch was named special teams co-player of the week (week one).
